LAW201: Critical Thinking and Legal Interpretation Assignment, SUSS, Singapore On 10 January 2021, Peter was walking along Orchard Road when he saw a Rolls Royce stopping at the front entrance
On 10 January 2021, Peter was walking along Orchard Road when he saw a Rolls Royce stopping at the front entrance of Liat Towers which is actually fronting a side road, with Far East Shopping Centre across the road. The Rolls Royce caught his attention.
A well-dressed man alighted from the car, seemingly heading for the Hermes store. Peter saw the man and recognized him as an old schoolmate, Chris Ho. Peter thought to himself that it looked like Chris Ho who was a bit of a nerd, made it big. Peter walked towards the man intending to introduce himself and hoping his old schoolmate still remembers him. As he approached the man, the man turned looking straight at him, and almost blurted out “Hey, you are Peter from our old school. You look the same except a little chubby.” Peter
was so pleased that the fellow recognized him from way back when, he replied “Wow, you still remember me!”
The chap’s response was an immediate guffaw of “how can I forget you. You and your gang used to bully me, calling me a nerd and other names!” Peter became embarrassed and frankly, slightly alarmed. Fortunately, Chris seeming amused rather than angry continued saying to Peter, “Hey don’t worry. That was a long time ago. Anyway, as you can see I have done well for myself and I am no longer someone who is timid and diffident like I was in school.” Chris continued, “You know, you guys did me a favor. I was so upset with how I was treated in the old days, I simply drove myself into working hard to succeed.
