Case Study
Katelan is a 20-year-old casual retail shop assistant at her small town’s supermarket. She originally wished to go to university but felt her grades weren’t strong enough and that she wouldn’t be able to afford it. However, after two years of living at home and working 20 hours per week, she has decided that she wants to move.
Katelan is unsure of where she should move to, or what she should study. She has interests in media and science, however, is scared of being made to feel stupid in classes. Katelan is seeking guidance on what her future career path could entail and finding her “best fit” A suggested structure for the case study is as follows:
– Reflection on own personal perspective on career development Identification of case study and outline of client needs
Brief overview of chosen career development theory, and link to both personal perspective and client needs
– Identify and apply 2 concepts from your chosen theory and how they could be relevant to the client
– Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen theory – Outline potential outcomes for the client
