a) Establish a viable structural scheme and sizes for the principal structural elements of the simple steel frames, taking into consideration functionality, lateral stability, and transfer of lateral loads to the two RC Cores located at both ends of the Block.
b) Calculate all appropriate actions and combination of actions for the principal structural elements of the steel frames.
c) Draw the axial force, shear force and bending moment diagrams for the principal structural elements of the steel frames.

PART II
a) Select appropriate sizes in Grade S275JR steel and perform sufficient calculations to ensure structural adequacy of the principal elements comprised of Main Beam B1, Secondary Beam B2, Column C1 and Beam–to–Column Connection J1 as shown in Figures 2 to 4.
b) Due consideration should be given to the lateral–torsional buckling resistance of the main beam because the floor slab spans in the same direction, and it may not be able to fully restrain the main beam. In addition, considerations should also be given to ensure there are no excessive floor deflections due to the beam’s long spans.
