The purpose of the Human Factors Analysis is to allow students to engage in a series of short exercises of applying the different principles covered in the topics of human factors (i.e., Weeks 5 – 9) to real-life examples that one observes in the real world (e.g., user- interfaces, products, machines, notice and signages, communication channels, websites, mobile apps, etc).
Students are expected to identify and submit THREE different real-life examples that they can observe in their everyday lives. For each example, students need to do the following:
– Provide a photo of the example that was chosen. Students are NOT allowed to use photos downloaded from the Internet. The only exception is if your example is a software interface, then you are allowed to capture the screenshot to illustrate the example.

(Approximately 100 – 150 words)
– State explicitly how the chosen example had violated human factors principle(s) taught in class such that its usability, accessibility, effectiveness, learnability, or safety is compromised OR how the chosen example had implemented human factors principle(s) taught in class such that its usability, accessibility, effectiveness, learnability, or safety is improved. Students will need to give a summary of the human factors principle(s) that are violated or implemented (i.e., don’t just name it, describe what the principle states), and how the principle(s) is relevant to the entity you are analyzing. (Approximately 250 – 400 words)
– State explicitly how on the chosen example can be improved by applying the human factors principle(s) taught in class to its design. Be detailed in the description of how the human factors principle(s) can improve the chosen example’s usability, accessibility, effectiveness, learnability, or safety. Use pictures or illustrations to better illustrate the points, if necessary. (Approximately 150 – 200 words)
