Question 1
Analyse the methodology, results, and practical implications of a peer reviewed research journal article on goal-setting, imagery, or self-talk [choose one] in sport psychology.
Apply the findings to practical scenarios in sport and provide recommendations for improvement or future research.
Suggested Structure or Format:
1. Introduction and Summary (10 marks)
Analyse the clarity and relevance of the research question, methodology, and findings.
2. Critical Analysis (15 marks)
Analyse the study’s methodology and results, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and evidence-based critique.
3. Application to Practice (10 marks)
Apply findings to real-world sport psychology scenarios, with relevant and specific examples.
4. Conclusion and Recommendations (5 marks)
Analyse the study’s contribution to sport psychology and propose evidence-based improvements or future research directions.

Question 2
Design a mental skills training programme for a sports team of your choice, structured around the B3-5Cs model (Tham & Weigand, 2010) and the different phases of periodisation. Your programme should demonstrate how mental skills are integrated into each phase and include strategies for implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

• Prepare an 800-word programme proposal.
• Include charts or tables to support your answer, where relevant and appropriate.
Key Focus Areas:
• Define the sport and competitive level of the team.
• Outline the periodisation phases (Transition, General Preparation, Specific
Preparation, Pre-Event).
• Identify and justify the mental skills to be developed in each phase.
• Propose implementation strategies that are specific, evidence-based, and sportrelevant.
• Propose monitoring methods to ensure the programme’s effectiveness.
