INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS:
1. This End-of-Course Assessment paper comprises FOUR (4) pages (including the cover page).
2. You are to include the following particulars in your submission: Course Code, Title of the ECA, SUSS PI No., Your Name, and Submission Date.
3. Late submission will be subjected to the marks deduction scheme. Please refer to the Student Handbook for details.
END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT (ECA)
This ECA carries 50% of the course marks and is a compulsory component. It is to be done individually and not collaboratively with other students. You must submit it on time.
The cut-off date for this assignment is 6 April 2025, 1200hrs.
Part I: Research Questions (15 marks)
Formulate ONE (1) related research question that could guide your classroom inquiry and explain how it aligns with the selected topic and why it is worth investigating. You should also provide 2 to 3 sub-questions to narrow down the research focus and make your inquiry topic more specific and manageable.

Part II: Literature Review and Action Plan (45 marks)
Based on the research question you have formulated in Part I above, you are going to search for and examine relevant literature, and propose a classroom-based action plan you would like to try out (i.e., a teaching strategy or intervention plan that you would like to use). Respond to the following questions:

a) Review the articles in your search and select TWELVE (12) articles that you think are the most relevant to your research project. List and group the references into categories and explain why you have selected these articles. You may put the list in the appendix. (15 marks)
b) Based on the 12 articles reviewed, draft a brief literature review (not more than 500 words) with relevant key themes, clear argument and succinct writing that will support your research project to answer the research question. (15 marks)
c) Examine the research question and literature reviewed, draft a classroom-based action plan with no more than 500 words that include relevant objective(s), potential approaches to solving the problem formulated in your research question with specific strategies and actions that might help achieve the research objective(s). Map out the timeline for your classroom-based action plan. (15 marks)
Part III: Data Collection Tools (25 marks)
Employ observations and interviews to gather children’s data for your teacher research. This should align with the research question and action plan that you have in mind in Part II. Draft ONE (1) instrument (e.g., child observation guide, checklist, interview guide) for each data collection method respectively that would help address your research questions. Here are a few questions to help you get organized to complete this task (these two questions are guiding questions, please integrate your answers in the description of the instruments)
i. How would you explain the purpose of the instruments you have identified or drafted for recording child performance and/or behaviours?
ii. How did you decide on the questions or items to be listed in each of the instruments? Or, how did you determine if the selected instrument is suitable for Singapore? (Attach the instruments in the appendix.) (20 marks)
Part IV: Data Analysis (10 marks)
Describe how you would analyze the data collected from the two data collection methods above to answer part of your research question. Discuss how the analysis aligns with your research question (how the analysis can help you answer the research question). (10 marks)
