GROUP-BASED ASSIGNMENT (GBA01)
This assignment is worth 14% of the final mark for BPM203 Construction Project Management.
The cut-off date for this assignment is 30 March 2025, 2355 hrs.
This is a group-based assignment. You should form a group of a maximum 4 members from your seminar group.
Each group is required to upload a single report via your respective seminar group site in Canvas. Please elect a group leader. The responsibility of the group leader is to upload the report on behalf of the group.
Note to Students:
You are to include the following particulars in your submission: Course Code, Title of the GBA, SUSS PI No., Your Name, and Submission Date.
Question 1

• Appraise the role of various governmental agencies a project
• Practical application of design and Quality Control in a real-life project
You are a contractor company which has recently been awarded a contract for the design and construction of a housing project to house 10,000 persons on an island away from mainland Singapore.
The structure is to have both Residential cum Commercial facilities.
The client wants to build this on a fast-track basis without any accidents and with emphasis on Sustainability, Water conservation and Green Mark. Stages for construction of this project are:
• Site Clearance
• Drainage
• Foundation and Superstructure works including finishing
• Electro-Mechanical, Finishes and External Works
Report Preparation
(a) Demonstrate your understanding of this assigned task by applying the project management knowledge and develop your report under the following phases:
(i) Initiation phase – Idea
(ii) Public Feedback on project implementation
(iii) Design phase – How it is to be done? Interfacing between disciplines, Design innovations & value addition.
(iv) Interfacing with Governmental agencies
(v) Implementation phase – Implementation
(vi) Features that enable the building to be classified as the highest standards in Green Mark
(vii) Public Safety and Environmental protection
(viii) Follow-up phase – Maintenance / Defects resolution
(ix) The reporting system within the organization executing the project
(x) Outline of your GBA team members and their diversity (in fields of work)
(b) You can apply the PMBOK Knowledge areas.
(c) The report should have a program of the project in MS Project and be reflective of the work. The program should be submitted as an attachment with between 15-30 activities. Report It should be in the form of a professional contractor report. Use the following title: “Residential Project on an island”
Mechanism to prevent free riding: Marks will then be allotted accordingly, which may be substantial.
Evidence is required, such as group meeting attendance list and email
correspondences. Your team should also show effort to warn and encourage slack members.
It should not come as a surprise.
