A programme developer plans to come up with a service to provide counselling and guidance to older adults seeking advice in pre-retirement planning. In preparing for the service, the implementor is keen to understand the experiences of retirees in Singapore. Apply knowledge and skills gleaned from the course to design an applied research proposal to:

1. Either explore the lived experiences of retirees in Singapore through qualitative interviews.
2. Determine the needs and preferences of retirees in Singapore through a quantitative survey.

• Construct and synthesize a review of journal articles and other publications on factors that possibly promote and preserve health and well-being after retirement. Please limit your evaluation of published journal articles and other publications to not more than 20 articles.
• Design a research proposal* in the following format:
  a) Abstract
  b) Specific aims
  c) Background and significance
  d) Methodology
  o Study design
  o Participants and procedures
  o Brief overview of the data analysis approach
  o Ethical considerations
  e) Anticipated benefits of the proposed study You may cite literature from your review in
  (i) to support your
  (ii) write-up.
• Examine the issues and challenges that might be faced by the programme developer of your proposed study. Compare and contrast your study design with one other approach that could overcome any two of the challenges you have identified in your study.
